With the reports that Spurs are interested in the addition of a creative midfielder to their squad many people raise their eyebrows as to who may come in. Roma’s Zaniolo is one of the top targets who have been mentioned alongside Paritici wanting to pursue Zalewski. It has also been suggested by people that they should go in for Maddison. They are are all viable options and would provide something different to the squad so it will be interesting to who will be targeted, if anyone at all.
Despite playing as a left wing-back for Roma Zalewski is originally a creative midfielder, this could be effective for the squad as it will allow for cover in multiple positions if injuries were to occur. This adds a level of depth alongside even more quality allowing for healthy competition. Zalewski is a player who likes to carry the ball forward and is very effective with it from the wing-back position, alongside this his defensive ability is impressive as he presses effectively and intercepts the often. Zainolo is an attacking minded midfielder who does well to create opportunities for shots, this would work in the spurs side as it would allow for Kane, Son or Richarlison to get more chances. Zainolo is effective with his ball retention at Roma which means Spurs are able to hold onto the ball for longer periods of time. Maddison looks the most appealing for the spurs squad. Although he tends to be good only in patches when he is at his best not many people are better than him, with 20 goals and assists last season he will provide more than enough contributions to the squad.
There are many options to choose from and it will be interesting to see how the next few weeks unfold. The price does not seem an issue this season therefore the decision will lie on Conte and the rest of the backroom staff. Hopefully they make the right decision and it propels the squad forward.
