Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer. The Croat has signed the dotted line on a 2-year deal that is said to believe to be worth €6M per season according to Di Marzio.
Described as a highly coveted capture, Tottenham had to fight off interest from London rivals, Chelsea, who had also offered the player a contract that rivalled Spurs’ according to Fabrizio Romano. Conte had marked Ivan as a priority signing for his Tottenham side and had given Paratici the green light to secure his services after their meeting in Italy last week.
Goals and assists
Perisic has 10 goals and 9 assists this season in all competitions, and despite being 33 years of age, Ivan has proved he’s been able to age like fine wine in Italy with the wing-back scoring twice two weeks ago against Juventus in the Coppa Italia. Inter Milan did all they could financially to hold on to Perisic, however, Spurs are their significant funds were able to offer exactly what Ivan wanted with the player dreaming of a move to the Premier League. There are suggestions that Tottenham could play Perisic as a right wing-back and potentially go after another left wing-back in that position, however, what Conte and Paratici have planned has been kept very secret, possibly after the Diaz to Liverpool deal that crumbled last minute where the club did the opposite.
Whats next?
Tottenham will now look forwards on to the next potential deal, as they target a left-sided centre back, another wing-back, an attacking-minded centre midfielder and a forward this summer. Alessandro Bastoni and Djed Spence have been heavily linked over the past two days, with the latter expected to be heavily fought for by Tottenham according to The Telegraph whilst the former still needs to be convinced of a potential move to Conte’s Lilywhites.
