This year there is a particular buzz around the air for Tottenham’s season. The arrivals of Perisic, Spence, Lenglet, Richarlison and the ex-seagulls midfielder Bissouma. Many pundits and fans are predicting a bright season with the possibility of a trophy approaching North London. Does this mean silverware for the club? Top 3 finish?
With the likely departures of Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso and Reguilon the Spurs side looks a real threat. Last season was a high getting top four and the hopes have been lifted with the backing of the manager throughout the summer window. Excitement surrounds N17 especially on how the likes of Bissouma will boost the performance of the squad. Bissouma is one of the top midfielders for passing completion and dribbles completed with having a 89.7% pass completion per 90 mins and averages 1.32 dribbles completed per 90. The defensive prowess which he has will boost the squad, especially with how conte likes to play, his clearing, interceptions and tackles made are some of the best in the league. The additions have improved multiple areas of the squad providing not just quality but also depth. The excitement arising may also coincide with the fact that champions league football is amongst them, which Spurs have managed to reach in previous years. The large amount of games that will be played may not hinder performance this season due to the quality of rotation available. Therefore the fans and pundits have their hopes set high for the 2022/23 season ahead.
With the transfer window not even over yet there could be an addition of another creative midfielder (as reported by David Ornstein) with the likes of Zaniolo being enquired about. The feeling amongst other premier league clubs is that top four will be likely for Tottenham with the increasing possibility of picking up a Carabao cup or FA Cup. The opener against Southampton should set the tone for the rest of the season and the likes of Kane and Son will be looking to get the ball rolling.
